Persepolis Blog#1

#4. Persepolis is organized like a comic, but it actually isn't a comic. The pictures/panels are all in black and white. She emphasizes sadness and corruption with black and white. She start when she was ten. About the same time as the Islamic revolution. From there she goes until she is fourteen. She also does flashbacks about the past and past emperors/kings. Her drawings are like words itself. Almost anybody can tell what is going on just by looking at the pictures. Her drawings add a visual understanding of the text. It is easier to understand and easier to read than novels. The book, Persepolis is easier to read and understand than a normal novel. The book is more interesting because of the pictures. And her jokes are easier the laugh at with a visual assistance.
#5. The writers voice is pretty powerful. It seems like she knows a lot of things. Sometimes i even felt sympathy for her. Her personality is very similar to teens today. And the way she writes and the character sets up this very funny humor. The thing i like about her character is that she is funny. She has a great sense of humor. There isn't a thing that i don't like about her character. The character is unpredictable. You can't really tell what she's going to do next. Yes, my reaction did kinda affect my reading experience. Since this is the first comic/novel i've ever read. At some points of the book, i felt sad for her. And some points, i would just laugh even though it wasn't supposed to be funny.
#9. The kids would try to look hip, by disobeying the law. Wearing jeans and leather jackets, even though they were forbidden. Torn shirts, and kool necklaces were also worn. They'd rebel against their teachers in class. They would play around with their school work and not take it seriously. If i was a child at this time, i'd done the same thing. I'd gone with the crowd and been a follower. I haven't really done any acts of rebellion (yet) but i hope i'd never have to in the future. I don't like getting in trouble with the law. Satrapi is just like a normal kid, because she knows what's in style. She knows how to make us laugh. Her character seems very childish. She does things that normal teens today would do. Like wearing punk-rock clothing and breaking the law.
