The Cat in the Hat
The character that i'm analysing is the fish. The fish was against all the games and fun. He didn't want the kids to do what they weren't supposed to do. But the Cat was able to convince them to have fun. The fishes personality went against everything the Cat did. He didn't want the cat there. For example, "No! No! Make the cat go away! Tell that Cat in the Hat you do not want to play. He should not be here. He should not be about. He should not be here. When your mother is out." He tells the cat to put him down when the cat was balancing him. This tells us that the fish was the superego. He cares about everybody and he cares about the consequences. He knew that the cat was all trouble and that the consequences of the cat being there would be bad. He was worried about the kids and their mother, but he was also worried about the house. The fish was the superego throughout the whole book. The fishes personality contributes to the main conflict by being the "good" guy. The guy that knows right from wrong. The one that always chooses the right choice for the occasion. With the fish being there, there was a sense of righteousness. If the cat was the devil, the fish would be the angel. His personality would be the counter for the cat's personality.

Persepolis Blog # 2
#7. Ordinary Iranian citizens enjoyed life by throwing parties, despite the consequences. They threw parties every time something good turned their way. Like when the shah left Iran. What made me laugh was the funny expressions and jokes. She makes jokes even when things are serious. Like when her class had to knit hats for the soldiers. It's funny when she doesn't take it seriously. I wouldn't take it seriously either. Everything seemed so stupid. Like, how can the women hair excite men, wouldn't the same go for men? Satrapi adds comic relief with laughter. If there wasn't any laughter the book wouldn't have been so exciting to read. And it really wouldn't be a comic. It would have been too serious. The scenes are relevant because, they give you a sense of how people really lived back then during the regime.
#15. Satrapi suggests that, reality is repeating itself. Almost like karma. The first Iranian invasn happened some time ago. And it was 1400 years later that the second one would happen. Life was going to be oppressed, again. And yet another tyrant was ready to rule. It's just like our economy, but hopefully Obama will set things straight! Marji's family is an influence to her. They influenced her to go demostrate and fight for her rights as a women. Her uncles were the most influencial, with there stories and heroic resistances. They made her into a rebel. She was willing to fight for her country, no matter what.
#1. I think that this genre is so popular because kids like us like books that have pictures to look at. Pictures are more appealing and attractive. I think she choose this format to draw in young teens like us to reading her book. It is also easier to understand the book with pictures. I don't think i would've understood her jokes without the pictures. The pictures add a sense of humor and lacks the seriousness of the real problem. i have not read any other graphic memoirs, but wouldn't mind reading more. Persepolis is almost like a novel that was told in pictures. I wouldn't really call it a comic book because it lacks the color.

Persepolis Blog#1
#4. Persepolis is organized like a comic, but it actually isn't a comic. The pictures/panels are all in black and white. She emphasizes sadness and corruption with black and white. She start when she was ten. About the same time as the Islamic revolution. From there she goes until she is fourteen. She also does flashbacks about the past and past emperors/kings. Her drawings are like words itself. Almost anybody can tell what is going on just by looking at the pictures. Her drawings add a visual understanding of the text. It is easier to understand and easier to read than novels. The book, Persepolis is easier to read and understand than a normal novel. The book is more interesting because of the pictures. And her jokes are easier the laugh at with a visual assistance.
#5. The writers voice is pretty powerful. It seems like she knows a lot of things. Sometimes i even felt sympathy for her. Her personality is very similar to teens today. And the way she writes and the character sets up this very funny humor. The thing i like about her character is that she is funny. She has a great sense of humor. There isn't a thing that i don't like about her character. The character is unpredictable. You can't really tell what she's going to do next. Yes, my reaction did kinda affect my reading experience. Since this is the first comic/novel i've ever read. At some points of the book, i felt sad for her. And some points, i would just laugh even though it wasn't supposed to be funny.
#9. The kids would try to look hip, by disobeying the law. Wearing jeans and leather jackets, even though they were forbidden. Torn shirts, and kool necklaces were also worn. They'd rebel against their teachers in class. They would play around with their school work and not take it seriously. If i was a child at this time, i'd done the same thing. I'd gone with the crowd and been a follower. I haven't really done any acts of rebellion (yet) but i hope i'd never have to in the future. I don't like getting in trouble with the law. Satrapi is just like a normal kid, because she knows what's in style. She knows how to make us laugh. Her character seems very childish. She does things that normal teens today would do. Like wearing punk-rock clothing and breaking the law.

Blog prompt 2
"Missing the feed" means that their feed is down and not working. This chapter says that corporations are basically taking over the world!!!!! They have all the cool technology that people buy. And some of that technology is pointless, like a bird that does nothing. A corporation in our time would be Walmart. They sell their items for less than other stores (which is good for us:)) but isn't always good for the economy. The corporations control everything. They monitor us and tells us what to buy and what is cool and in style. And when the corporation goes down, everybody goes down. When you are used to the corporations taking over your life, it is hard to live without them when they're down. We are so dependent on them to live.
Violets project is to create a profile that the corporations can't market. She starts to mess with the feed. Checking out stuff and not buying them. Her willingness tells us that she is resisting the feed and that she has figured out the corporations intentions. I don't know a person that is like violet, but i'm sure there is. They're probably people who object technology and don't us it at all. Like the omish people. Titus follows her for awhile. He thinks it's fun at first, but then finds out that it's to difficult to handle.
Titus' reaction to his parents buying an upcar is that he was surprised. He was surprised that his parents would give him a gift instead of punishment for what he did on the moon. He wasn't expecting his parents to be so calm about it. He was hoping that they would actually care. But they didn't think it was a big idea.

visual essay
elevators.
this is an electrical bike. (you don't even need to pedal).
ipods, see how small they are.
a very,very,very, small computer chip.
My theme is about technology and how it affects our lives. Technology makes our lives easier and it makes us somewhat FAT. My images represent how small our world is becoming. My message is that the world is small and the people living here are fat due to technology. I choose the picture of a small chip in some guys hand to give you an idea of how small things have become. The picture with the ipod represents how something so small can hold so much. I guess big things do come in small packages. The pictures of the electric bike and elevator shows how lazy we all have become. We can't even use the stairs anymore. We're so lazy that we don't even need to pedal a bicycle!! It pedals itself!! I mean it is easier when we don't have to do a lot of work but, it takes away the meaning of a bicycle when you don't pedal. What's the use of a pedal when it's electrical?? What influenced me is all the fat and lazy people in the world. They're so lazy and fat!!!!!!!!! Why can't they all just go and workout or something? Then we'll have all these buff and healthy people. I feel like we need to make a change. We need to stop making things that'll do stuff for us and make things that will actually be healthy for us. Like a tv that you have to keep moving for it to work.
